Race for the CURE weekend!

Last weekend we walked in Race for the Cure in Little Rock. We have walked the last 6 YEARS in honor of my mom. She was diagnosed with breast cancer 1/23/04. She had a double mastectomy 2/23/04, followed with chemo and radiation. 6 years later she is convinced they got her chart mixed up with someone else and that she never really had cancer;)!!! Hahaha!!! It is always such a special/emotional day for us as we celebrate the survivors and remember those less fortunate who have lost their battle. It is truly amazing to see the amount of people that come out bright and EARLY to walk/race and show their support!

Mom with 3 of her 4 sisters. Her sister Kathy fought the battle with breast cancer earlier this year and is doing fantastic! She lives in Texarkana and their race was the same day, so we missed her. We thought about her as we walked and I'm sure she did the same. It was her 1st year to wear a "pink" shirt. I think she agrees with mom, that it is an unfortunate thing to have to wear one, but you sure do feel special when you have it on:)!!!

We started the "I'm with Peg" saying at the "PINK party" we threw for mom the weekend before her mastectomy. We all wore PINK, ate PINK food, and gave her PINK gifts! We also burned her bras in the fire pit and all the men in the family shaved their heads;)!!! Her sisters and brothers made buttons for everyone that said "I'm with Peg". We wore them that day, then on the day of her surgery we all wore them in the waiting room.

The guys line the race way to show their support. I loved the sign that said "Big or Small, save them ALL!". Hilarious:).....

My dad with the guys cheering section. Dad has had the same sign for 6 years. When we walked up to him, he was taking a picture with these girls. They said they have had their picture made with him the last 3 years in a row, and they were SO excited to finally meet "Peg"!

I always get a picture of mom on the bridge:).....

The picture is too far away, bu these guys in the water always show their support. They had pink boas on and pink balloons tied to their boats.

Bikers showing their support.....

These firemen caused a MAJOR traffic jam;).....

Here we are at the guys 2nd station. The are always at the beginning of the race, then once we pass them they move so we can see them again:).....

Cowboys roping pink bulls;).....

A bongo band (isn't that what those things are called?).....

I took this picture for Patrick;).....

The yoga men. Always love them:).....

and the belly dancers:).....

Crazy balloon hat;).....

Mom crossing the finish line!!!

Doesn't she look happy:).....

Yay, Peg!!!

Cole and Amelia:).....

Cutie patootie:).....

The whole time we were at the race, Cole thought we were going to a football game. When I woke him up at 5:30am (we drove to LR from Hot Springs the morning of the race) he was NOT a happy camper.....UNTIL he saw that he was going to get to wear his Razorback jersey! When he saw that, he thought we MUST be going to a football game;)! I guess the whole time we were walking, he thought we were tailgating, because once we got back to the car, WITHOUT going to a football game, he was M-A-D!!!!! He refused to get out of his stroller and cried for a while on the way home until he finally fell asleep! Once we hit the drive way at the lake house, his eyes popped open and he said "hutball game???". Mom, Dad and I were all in agreement that we HAD to go find a football game for him to watch. I didn't care if it was pee wee football, the boy was DYING to watch a "hutball" game;)!!! WELL.....we didn't find any football, but we did find soccer, and it seemed to satisfy him a little bit;)!
Here he is watching strangers play soccer;).....

After the soccer game he wanted to go to the park. What Cole wants, Cole gets;).....

He was pretty proud of himself for walking across this bridge;).....

Sporting his cat eyes from his Sonic Wacky Pack:).....
Lindsey, Brady and Ryan surprised us Saturday afternoon! Cole was SOOOO excited to see his cousins:)....

Do you think he loves them, or what:)???

Of course, the boys always want to take a silly picture. Cole doesn't quite understand the concept;).....

It was a fantastic weekend to celebrate 6 years of kicking cancers butt! Can't wait for next year! Hopefully Texarkana's race won't be on the same weekend and we can celebrate TWO fabulous SURVIVORS!!!!! "I'm with Peg AND Kathy!"

Artex

Sunday afternoon we loaded up and headed to the ranch. We rode the mule, fed the deer, and ate taco soup! Perfect Fall day:)!

Cole with Nana and Papa on the Mule.....

Cole with momma and daddy. Notice the camo toboggan Cole has on. Patrick found it in the bunkroom and thought it would be perfect for Cole. It didn't quite fit his noggin;).....

Putting up a new corn feeder.....

This deer head hasn't been mounted yet, and Cole was in awe of it;).....

Liza Birthday Party!

Liza Carter's 4th Birthday Party was Saturday. Patrick and I had a wedding to go to at the exact same time, so we sent Cole to the party with the Jones'. We said it was Cole and Ellie's first date;)! I got a good report from Jayme when I went to pick Cole up. She said he behaved himself. If any of you mommas that were there know otherwise, let me know;).

(I stole these pics from Kate's blog;).....)

Here is the Miss Liza posing with her cake.....

Cole and his buddy, Cy.....

The boys giving the birthday girl big hugs;).....

Friday in Hope

Friday was our last day in Hope. We spent Friday night in Hot Springs at my parent's lake house, then headed back home Saturday morning.

Before we left town, we stopped by Bud's bank to visit:).....

and we happened to see a choo-choo train on the way out of town. Cole loves trains. He doesn't care too much about playing with them, but he gets so excited when he hears the real deal! We pulled over on the side of the road and rolled his window down so he could watch;).....

Thursday in Hope

Thursday we went to Texarkana to see my cousin Jordan's new baby, Myles. He is 6 weeks old and absolutely precious! It made me so excited to have a newborn around again soon:)!

Cole was surprisingly really good with him. He even let me hold him;)!!!!

We ate lunch at Bryce's Cafeteria, which is my all time favorite! I know cafeterias gross some people out, but I will sit there with the blue hairs all day long as long as I get some good home cooking;)!
Cole with Ellis (the big sister!).....

Okay, now I KNOW I shouldn't post this picture, but I just couldn't help myself;)! I wish I could blame my consumption on being pregnant, but I'm sad to say that I eat this much EVERY time I go to Bryce's;)! The chocolate pie is an addition since I had Cole. For some reason I developed a sweet tooth after giving birth;).....Fried zucchini, cream corn, macaroni and cheese, turnip greens, squash, mashed potatoes, black eyed peas, and chocolate pie!!! (the banana pudding and roll are NOT mine! Hahahaha!!!)

The kiddos.....

That afternoon one of my childhood friends, Clancy, came by with her 2 kids. Turner and Maggie are SO cute!!!

Cole layed in the yard forever playing on my iphone.....

then he tried on goggles.....

and some ugly sunglasses;).....
