Party with a Purpose- Lily and Maggie

My friend, Kim, came to me recently and said that she and her husband had decided to ask the guests invited to Lily & Maggie’s birthday party to bring a donation to The Miller McNeil Woodruff Foundation in lieu of gifts.  We were so taken back my this offer!  What a selfless act!  I must say that Lily and Maggie have some VERY generous friends/family, because we came home with $820 for the foundation!!!!!  Can you believe that???  So amazing!!!  Thank you again to the Rusher family for thinking of Miller.  It just so happened to be his 10 month birthday, and I know he was smiling down BIG from heaven:)!

*I also wanted to mention that back in August, my friend Gretchen, did the same thing at her little boy’s 1st Birthday party.  This was shortly after Miller had passed away and I was consumed with other things and didn’t mention it on my blog, so I wanted to say a big THANK YOU (5 months later!) to Gretchen for thinking to do this for James’ birthday party!  I stole this picture of their donation box from her blog:

*Be looking for more “Party with a Purpose” posts, because in the last month we have had 3 other people ask if they could do the same thing.  None of these people know each other, they just all happened to come to me around the same time with the same idea.  Just another example of the fact that there really are good people in this worldSmile

Coins that Count…RESULTS ARE IN!

Mrs. White’s 3rd grade class at Lakeside Intermediate has gone ABOVE AND BEYOND!  Mrs. White planned and organized a community project to raise money for The Miller McNeil Woodruff Foundation…..“Coins That Count…..an opportunity to give”.   She sent me this video today to announce the final total.  Since receiving this video, she has text me and let me know that she has gotten even MORE money, so the # is still climbing!!!  Thank you to Mrs. White, and all of the students at Lakeside Intermediate who participated in this project!  It makes my heart smile:)!

SAVE THE DATE

We are SO excited about our first fundraising event in memory of Miller.  Miller’s 1st Birthday would have been March 28th, so we are going to get together the following Friday (3/30) and CELEBRATE our little man’s life and the amazing legacy he has left behind.  I will warn you in advance, just with the sponsors who have come to us already, the room is filling FAST and space is limited!  Speaking of sponsors, if anyone is interested in learning more about how to become a sponsor of this event, please contact me at info@imwithmiller.com.  We look forward to seeing many of you there!  It should be a FUN-FILLED evening, and we plan to raise LOTS of money for a great cause!

7 months in Heaven

108

*My friend, Christy, wrote this poem after Miller passed away.  She and her family were such a huge support and help with Cole during Miller’s 87 days with us.

All babies are precious, some are more dear

And for Miller today, we shed many tears

Meredith, Patrick, and brother Cole, too

Will have holes in their hearts, their whole lives thru

He will sorely be missed, and the emptiness ache

But let us remember the day at the gates!

He was met by the Father, and Jesus and more!

The angels were singing and playing their chords!

They were having a party, because Miller was there!

Another angel came home, his precious and dear!

He sits there with Jesus, breathing just fine!

Watching from Heaven and biding his time

When again he can be with his Momma and Dad

Cole, Bud & Peg, PaPa & Nana- THE CLAN!

Miller made us appreciate the preciousness of life

So cling to your families, your husband, your wife.

Never take for granted this day we are given

It’s a gift from the Lord, our Father in Heaven!

Today “I’m with Miller” as SO many are!

And always think of him with joy in your heart.

This is for you, Miller McNeil, for all that you’ve taught.

Couples Bunco

We had SOOOOO much fun at Couples Bunco!!!  I had never played Bunco before, so I wasn’t sure what to expect, and I certainly didn’t think Patrick would enjoy the evening, but I must say I think the guys had just as much fun (if not more) than the girls did!!!  Thanks to Lauren and Gregg for hosting such a fun night!  Can’t wait until next time:)…..

Future HOGS

Before the Arkansas vs. Michigan basketball game we met up with a bunch of my college girlfriends and their families to eat at US Pizza.  I love getting all of these kiddos together:)…..

We tried to get a mommy picture (minus Victoria, I think she was inside), but the kids weren’t too happy about that so this is the best we could doWinking smile....

Bordino’s

We had a yummy dinner at Bordino’s with the Bakers.  David is one of Patrick’s very best friends (from his WestArk Baseball days) that has just recently moved back to town to practice oral and maxillofacial surgery.  We love these two and are so glad to have them in NWA…..

Feeding the Geese

Every Tuesday and Thursday Nana & Papa take Cole to Lake Atlanta to feed the geese.  I asked Nana to send me some pictures and this is the email she sent me:

“The green goose is the Old Man, and the white one is his wife, we think.  Cole said the white one might be a boy and he would be the Old Man's best friend.”

I LOVE IT:)…….
