Jace’s Party with a Purpose

I got this Facebook message from Jace’s momma:

Hey Meredith,
I'm sorry I haven’t sent you a message sooner! Mandy Thompson gave me your email address but i couldn’t find it.  As she may have told you my lil guy is turning 1 in July, his bday party is July 14th.  He really doesn’t need anymore toys (our house is more than full of them already :)).  So we have decided to have friends and family donate money to an organization instead.  I'm not sure it will be much, but every little bit helps right?  So, since I don’t know much about the organizations in the area I asked my sister (Allisha Watkins) and Mandy who to donate to. They both excitedly suggested ya'll!!  So i was wondering if I could get a little more info, where do I tell them to donate? Do you have a website for them to visit to learn more about Miller? And anything else you might want them to know?
Look forward to speaking with you soon!
Court

This message makes me happy for several different reasons!  First of all, that Courtney would be so generous to think of having a Party with a Purpose, and secondly that 2 people recommended us:)!  Makes my heart smile…..

Happy 1st Birthday Wells

We had to leave Kiera’s party a little early to make it to Wells Fergus’ 1st Birthday Party!  It was such a cute party!  Victoria was worried that the “big kids” (Cole, Cy, Ellie, Owen, McCoy and Liza) wouldn’t have fun with the “baby” toys, but I think they had more fun than the babies did with them!  Who doesn’t love a water table, a bounce house, and a piƱata?  Thanks, Wells, for including us in your big day:)…..

Cy, Cole and Ellie thought it was hilarious to sit up on the bounce house slide and fall backwards.  I was trying to get a picture of them, so it made my job challenging but you can tell they were having so much funSmile…..076077083

Kiera’s 4th Birthday Party

Kiera is a little girl in Cole’s class at school.  We were excited to get invited to her birthday party at Kikiberry.  It was a Prince and Princess themed birthday party so all of the kids got balloon swords, which Cole loved!  Thanks, Kiera, for letting us celebrate with you:)…..

Patrick’s Sinus Surgery

Friday the 13th wouldn’t normally be a date I would prefer to have surgery, but that’s the way it worked out for Patrick’s sinus surgery!  Patrick has complained for years about not being able to taste and/or smell:(.  Some days are worse than others, but even his best days weren’t all that great!  After a few years of only treating they symptoms and getting temporary relief, he decided to get a second opinion.  The doctor he went to see (Dr. Felicia Johnson) ordered a CT scan and discovered that he had lots of tissue/polyps that needed to be cleaned out.  She performs her surgeries on Friday’s, and 7/13 was the only Friday we had open with a full weekend to heal until Miss Mattie gets here, so Friday the 13th it was;)!

I think I dreaded the surgery more than he did!  I was not looking forward to the recovery.  Those of you that know me, know that I do NOT do blood so I was having lots of anxiety about that.  However, he did “miraculously” start being able to taste/smell the week before the surgery was scheduled and kept acting like he wanted to cancel the procedure.  I told him that he couldn’t (even though this did make me nervous that if something happened to go wrong it would have been MY fault!) because if he didn’t do it now he was never going to do it!  After he was out of surgery, he told me that he was more nervous about it than he was leading on, which makes me think that’s why he could “miraculously” smell/taste beforehand;).

One funny/sweet thing that happened before he went back:  He refused to take off his Miller Band when the nurse asked him to, but he didn’t hesitate to take off his wedding band.  I wondered if I should be concerned;).  Of course, I am kidding!  Who wouldn’t prefer to take Miller to the O.R. with them!  I know I would!!!

He is probably going to kill me for posting these pictures, but you know I have to document everything, so here ya go;)…..

Post op:  Not looking so hot!  Bless his heartSad smile…..011

The recovery hasn’t been near as bad as we both expected!  He has been quite the trooper (and I’d like to think I’ve been a pretty good nurse!  I’m sure he would probably beg to differ….LOL!).  His biggest complaint has been his dry mouth (from the meds they give you during anesthesia to dry up your secretions so you don’t aspirate).  The first night he was up every 30-45 minutes downing Gatorade, which would then make him get up every 30-45 minutes to go pee!  It was a vicious cycle that kept both of us up all night.  Oh well, I’ll take dry mouth over pain any day!

Thanks to all of you for your thoughts and prayers!  I’ve kept him up to date on all of your sweet messages.  I think he’s felt pretty special this weekendWinking smile.

Bailey Gene Feagans

We got to spend some QT with Miss Bailey when we took dinner over to Brandon and Stacey.  She is SO cute!!!  It’s hard to believe that in a little over 2 months we are going to have one of her:)!  Brandon and Stacey are great parents!  It’s always so fun to watch your friends become parents for the 1st time!  Such a fun and exciting new chapter in their lives:).

Miller in Germany

I received this email last month and just had to share.  How amazing that the painted horse in Bentonville led someone to Google search “I’m with Miller”, and then for them to think about him while on their honeymoon in Europe!  Our little boy continues to spread his wings…

Hello,
I first read about your precious baby when googling "I'm With Miller" after seeing the horse painted with that slogan in Bentonville. That google search lead me to your blog where I read for hours about your family's story. My heart went and still goes out for you! I read the blog from time to time but when I saw these 5 points I immediately thought of Miller McNeil Woodruff!!! I got married on June 9, and we are in Europe for our honeymoon. This millerism was in Rothenburg, Germany, which was the inspiration for the town depicted in Pinocchio! I hope it brings a smile to your face that another complete stranger is being touched by your story and that your baby boy's spirit is alive and glowing worldwide!

Baking Cookies with Nana

Cole stays with Nana & Papa every Tuesday and Thursday.  They are usually up to something adventurous, but this particular day they decided to beat the heat by staying inside and baking cookies:)…..
